Metaphor: ReFantazio Expands Its Universe with Upcoming Manga Collaboration

The excitement surrounding the upcoming JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio has reached new heights as a new manga series connected to the game is on the horizon. Developed by Atlus's sub-studio, Studio Zero, this manga will be in collaboration with Shueisha and is anticipated to evoke strong Persona influences.

Unveiled during the Tokyo Game Show's World Metaphor Summit and subsequently shared on Studio Zero's official social media platforms, the manga will be created by Yōichi Amano, an artist recognized for his previous works including Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Ana no Mujina.

Details regarding the manga's narrative and its specific relationship with the Metaphor: ReFantazio universe are still under wraps. The core story of the game revolves around a fantasy realm grappling with the need to crown a successor following the sudden demise of its king. Meanwhile, the game's protagonist and his allies embark on a mission to lift the curse affecting the rightful heir.

The description provided by the game outlines a narrative focused on the necessity of unity among the people to choose a new monarch. Set within the fictional realm of Euchronia, the storyline thickens with the king's assassination that plunges the realm into turmoil. The use of a mystical power known only as Royal Magic ignites a royal contest among the claimants to the throne.

In this unfolding tale, the main character and his companion, Gallica the fairy, are tasked with breaking a curse that has befallen the supposedly deceased prince. Their quest necessitates traversing the expansive lands, where they will find that participation in the throne tournament is essential for achieving their objectives. This monumental undertaking will require alliances with diverse allies across various tribes populating the world.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is slated for release on October 11, and ahead of this debut, Studio Zero has made a prologue demo available for players to experience. Progress from this demo will be transferable to the full game.

On the matter of the Metaphor: ReFantazio manga, it is set to be serialized on a monthly basis in V Jump magazine, although the launch date remains unspecified. Information about potential English translations has yet to be revealed.
