Warcraft III: Reforged to Bring in Something New in June
- 20 Jun, 2022
Warcraft III: Reforged started as one of the most ill-fated remasters in the gaming history, but now it seemingly has fixed its early mistakes and become quite playable. No wonder Blizzard didn’t want to take risks related to it and after these fixes just let the game be. But not for long: the new content (or at least a glance at it) is probably coming in June.
At least, this is what we can conclude from the words said by Blizzard’s president Mike Ybarra on Twitter. When asked by a fan whether something new was coming about Warcraft 3 Reforged, Ybarra vaguely announced something coming in June. But what will it be? Ybarra’s words offer no clue; he just said that in June we may hear from the WIII: R team.
Hardly will it be a full-size DLC; if so, we’d already have a leak or two about it. It seems more palatable that in June the team will just make an announcement. And the reason for this announcement will be something greater than just another patch. Maybe it will be something from the original game, like Clans, Ranked Ladders, or Player Profiles. The team may also find inspiration in modders’ activity (which has been high, given how much the base game lacks) or even collaborate with some of them.
The good news is that the team that handles Warcraft III: Reforged may be the same team from Vicarious Visions. This group, now a part of Blizzard Entertainment, has done a good job by developing updates for Diablo II: Resurrected, so these guys know how to handle remastered classics. If it’s them, the new life of Warcraft III may finally be worth the wait.
What do you think of Warcraft II: Reforged? Are you among those who filed for refunding after the initial disastrous launch? If not, do you find it playable now? And what would you like to see added to it? Let us know what you think, and welcome to the comments section!
