On its official Steam page, Tempest Rising is described as a modern take on classic RTS action. Drawing inspiration from successful RTS games of the 90s and 00s, it sets a classic base-building real-time strategy in a contemporary war scenario with an alternate history. The game features three unique factions, each with their unique approach to combat and economics, and includes maps with neutral buildings and populations to conquer.

The game emphasizes strategy, rewarding the skilled, and offers customization options for both single-player and multiplayer modes. You can lead the advanced Global Defense Forces or the dynamic Tempest Dynasty, both with 15 campaigns where you can customize your troops for each mission. Both forces aim to understand and gain control over the beneficial but rampant Tempest vines. However, uncovering the origins of the Tempest also brings out unforeseen threats.
