EA Cancels Mobile Versions of Battlefield and Apex Legends
- 31 Jan, 2023
EA has followed in Ubisoft’s footsteps, canceling several projects, ending the life of Hyper Scape, and blocking network functions in older games. Recently, the publisher has decided to abandon its plans for mobile versions of Battlefield and Apex Legends.
Although EA’s financial situation has been good, the company has lowered its outlook for the 2023 fiscal year. This is largely due to a decrease in revenue from Apex Legends that was greater than expected. Nevertheless, their flagship title FIFA is still performing well, and the mobile and online versions have helped improve EA’s financial situation.
Despite this, EA is focusing its investments on enhancing the player experience. Chris Suh, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, explained that their priority would be to focus on their players and revenue growth. Although their expectations for the mobile versions of Battlefield and Apex Legends were not met, EA is still dedicated to delivering an immersive gaming experience.
In conclusion, canceling these mobile versions of Battlefield and Apex Legends shows that EA is dedicated to delivering quality titles with an immersive gaming experience. Although their expectations for these mobile titles were not met, the publisher is still dedicated to focusing on their players and revenue growth.
